The purpose for the request is a need from the Tenant to sell and fulfill flammable/combustible liquid orders from the Facility to support their customers. However, the code does not permit the storage of flammable/combustible liquids in Group S-1 occupancies on the scale that is required for the Tenant to service its customers effectively. Therefore, the alternate requests storage of flammable/combustible liquids above the prescriptive maximum allowable quantity at a specified maximum quantity per storage pod and storage density that are based on the results of full-scale fire testing. The alternate solution relies on the results of the full-scale fire testing and has three main points: 1) Storage Density – limited container sizes and limited quantity per storage pod 2) Adequate Protection – successful sprinkler testing 3) Operational Controls – product storage controls to ensure storage pod quantity is maintained.
