Received email from contractor. The following is my response: Good morning Grainger, The minimum code requirement is 1/300 attic venting with soffit vents and roof vents. ( ½ in soffit and ½ on upper portion of roof) These ridge openings are very small. They look to be ¼” – ½” on each side or ridge board. I believe Lomanco requires a 3 ¼” total width opening for this type of ridge board/rafter construction. I have attached their installation instructions. I cannot tell if the underlayment was even cut away in the slots before installing the ridge vent. There were no visible cut outs from “on site” photos. Other companies have provided a photo of the cut out portion. All roofing materials must be installed per the manufacturer’s instructions. Your roofing crew should never assume that existing conditions are okay. What do you propose to do?
