Employee Is Injured When Struck by Falling Truss, Later Dies
On January 20, 2012, Employee # 1 was working on a multiple employers' construct ion site for residential home. Employee # 1 and coworkers were positioning truss es above an exterior doorway, and attaching the trusses to the support framework . Employee #1 and Employee # 2 with five trusses were elevated approximately fou rteen-feet above ground-level on a platform by a rough-terrain forklift. Employe e # 1 lost his balance and fell from the platform to the ground below, and lande d on his feet. Employee # 1 was struck in the head by one of the trusses as he s tands on the ground. Employee # 1 immediately fell to the ground unconscious, an d sustained severe head-wound. Employee # 1 later died at the hospital.
