Employee killed in trench collapse
An employee entered an excavation that was over 20 ft deep. He was to level the first section of a precast concrete manhole. Shortly after entering the excavati on, a section of one wall collapsed onto the employee burying him under approxim ately 2 ft of heavy, wet soil. Rescuers took approximately 35 minutes to uncover the victim but were not able to revive him.
