EMPLOYEE KILLED WHEN HIT ON HEAD BY TREE SECTION
Employee #1 was clearing away branches from beneath a tree that had been topped and cut into sections. A coworker was cutting a section from the main trunk stem at a height of about 5.5 meters. This section was secured to another part of th e tree by a length of wire rope designed to keep the tree from splitting. When t he piece that was being cut broke free, it swung with the wire rope and struck E mployee #1 in the head, killing him.
