Employees buried, one killed, by trench cave-in
At approximately 7:50 a.m. on September 26, 1991, Employees #1 and #2 were in a trench excavation at the Amoco Tank Farm in Moorhead, MN, when the trench's sout h wall collapsed, burying both employees. Employee #2 was buried shallow enough to be uncovered for breathing while rescuers dug out Employee #1. When they dug him out he was not breathing and was transported to Dakota Hospital in Fargo, ND . After much effort to revive him, Employee #1 was pronounced dead at approximat ely 10:30 a.m. Employee #2, who suffered a bruised shoulder, was examined, held in the hospital for observation for a short time, and released at approximately 12:00 noon that day.
